As all of you who are into Gyaru might now, there are a lot of different styles and substyles for Gyaru. I found this cute picture wich I think is a pretty good example for what kind of styles there are in Gyaru or Japanese Styles overall. Here is some information about the different styles.

Yamanba - Characterized by over the top make-up and stickers of popular Disney characters or cartoons as well as jewels or stick-on earrings. The clothing style is heavy "I just got back from Hawaii" complete with lei's on wrists, necks, ankles and even in hair. Thick Ganguro style "panda" make-up, and usually orange, hot pink, teal blue, blue or bleached white hair. The usual hairstyle is long with many multi-colored extensions with the common long on bottom short on top hairstyle that is all too frequent in Japan.

Romamba - A style that is too often called "Lolita Gal" but is rather Ro, as in romantic, and Manba who wear lots of pink and lots of lace. Romanba wear lots of Marie-chan and lots of pearls and flowers. Though similar to the idea of the Lolita Style. It is far from it. Typical brands are Pinky Girls and Liz Lisa. The skin tone is always very dark and the make-up is the same as Yamanba. Romamba could almost be called the bastard love child of the ganguro and gothic lolita genres. It features cute, frilly clothes, lots of pink and of course, a love for Marie-chan of Disney's Aristocats fame. Kigirumi are the super-sized character suits that manbas and their posse are notorious for running around in; popular characters include Winnie the Pooh, Hello Kitty and Pikachu, among others.

Manba - deep tan and contrasting white make-up. Their hair is usually pastel-coloured or blonde, and very long and back-combed. Their clothes are neon and layered

Banba - Can also be seen as a lighter, brighter form of manba, though they are distinct styles. Banba wear less of the white makeup than manba and wear brighter clothes. Club wear is popular. They also use more glitter, and have a neon touch to their hair. They use more extreme-looking types of false eyelashes and coloured contact lenses. The most respected Gal-cir isAngeleek; there are 22 members in their Tokyo group, and they have many other groups throughout the country.

Kogal - Highschool girls who follow gal style by altering school uniforms, dying hair and tanning their skin.

B-Gyaru - The style is distinguishable only by a very dark tan(whereas Yamanba/Ganguro/Gonguro are mostly tan make-up or bronzer, the B-Gyaru tan is 100% permanent with upkeep of course) The hairstyles are mostly micro-braids, cornrows, and almost always extensions.

Haady Gyaru - A gal who chooses to wear mostly Ed Hardy style fashion or any flashy material at all. It is a very crazy look (compare to guidos, lol).

Baika - The B stands for "black", it's a style that's inspired by hip hop clothing, but less gangsta/streetwear and more bling-bling. Also it's more flashy and feminine than a lot of the hip hop wear you see in the West. A prominent brand is "Shoop" - with the defining slogan "Real black so cool". (this is what just one faction of the Baika style though. Baika is biker style but can be compared to the hip hop style.)

Coco Gyaru - A cocogyaru can be any of the gyaru styles, provided that they mostly adorn their self with the brand Cocoulu.

Sentaa Guy - Sentaa or Sentaa Guys as for lack of a better term male Manbas. They wear the same Alba Rosa pants and have the same long lion manes teased up 4 inches. They wear the same make-up and even dress in tons of pink. One common difference is the amount of jewelry accosted by a Sentaa-Kun, usually tons of beaded "raver" bracelets or Madonna-esque jelly bracelets cling to their super tan arms. Flip flops are a must... flat ones (Some sentaa however go for a more normal appeal and do not wear the white flashy make up on their face).

What is in style now, and what has become the sentaa's reformation is the gyaru-o, which take on as many different looks as the gyaru. Within the Gyaru-o fashion there are a number of sub fashions, which can roughly be broken down into the following groups: Military, Rock, Biker, American Casual, Surfer, Host & Adult.

Amuro Gyaru - A girl who chooses to follow the look of Namie Amuro, who is rumored to have started the kogal fashion trend with her tan skin and light brown hair and pre-disposition to wear tiny skirts and high boots. (Amuraa is not seen often nowadays but we can always look at the history of gyaru, right?)

Rasuta Gyaru - Rasta style is big in Japan so of course it is big in GAL style also, characterized by Jamaican flags, red-green-yellow, Bob Marley, and lots of straw handbags or hemp clothing. Not to be confused with B-Gyaru but can be sort of a spin-off also.

Oneegyaru - Definition: 'Older Sister Gal' A gyaru who is typically in her early to mid twenties that has reformed her previously wild GAL style into a sophisticated, and understated form of Ganguro. Many oneegyaru still tan and dye their hair light brown or blonde but choose to wear labels and goods like Louis Vuitton, YSL, and Chanel, Coach.

Celebrity Gyaru - This is almost the same as Oneegal, but the emphasis is less on designer gear, more on looking glamorous. Which means flashy jewellery and clothes, big sunglasses almost permanently attached to your head. Style icons are J.Lo, Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton, etc.

Yankii - The yanki style is typically combat or stiletto boots, loose pants, and a long jacket often a military one. This style can often can be confused with miruteri (milatary style) which was big during the fall of 05'.

Hime Gyaru - girls who dress as princesses. Hair colours vary from blonde to black and is usually very big and teased. They wear expensive clothing from brands such as Liz Lisa and Jesus Diamante.

De är söta, för det mesta.

Finns faktiskt en hel del icke-asiater jag sett som passat i det. Beror väl på hur man gör det antar jag, allt blir ju för mycket om man överdriver.

Citat från Milkshit

This^

Ser inte rätt ut när västerlänningar har den stilen :(
Speciellt om de inte kan sminka sig rätt.

Jag kör oftast bara på sminket, för stilen är härlig som fan. Tror dock inte jag skulle lyckas med kläderna.
