My little sister came home from school one day and demanded I take her to the library so she could get books on sign language.

I asked why? She told me there was a new kid at school who was deaf and she wanted to befriend him.

Today, I stood beside her at their wedding watching her sign... “I DO”. <3

When I was 15 I tried to kill myself by taking an entire bottle of pills.

I went and laid on the top bunkbed so that I could die, and then I heard my baby brother laugh. I used all my strength to fall off my bunkbed so that someone would hear it and find me.

I am now 29 with a college degree and newly married. My baby brother GMH.

I work at a nursing home, and we admitted a husband (Rob) and wife (Jane).
Jane was dying, but Rob was healthy. I asked the nurse why he was there too.
The nurse told me that he admitted himself so he could be with Jane for her last moments, and so she wouldn't die alone.

Jane died a few weeks later, hand in hand with her husband of 60 years.

Freshman year, there was a crippled girl bound to a wheelchair.
For 4 years, she did physical therapy and progressed to crutches.
When we graduated a few weeks ago, she handed her crutches to an officer and walked across the entire stage.
The applause from the seniors was deafening. She cried the whole way.

Two months ago, my best friend died in a fire.

I was told that he would've made it out alive, except he ran back to try save his two-year-old half-sister.
They found him holding her, she died in his arms while he was trying to protect her from the flames.

:'(

Yesterday was the funeral of my aunt, and her two year old son was wearing a flashing pink headband.

When I asked him why, he said "So Mummy can see me when she looks down from heaven"

The way children can find hope in the most desperate of situations GMH
